Alfaluz Launches Canadian Midstream Plant, Deploys Breakthrough M-CRACK™ System for Heavy Oil Upgrading

Alfaluz, an innovative technology player in heavy oil upgrading, has officially launched its first Canadian facility, delivering its disruptive M-CRACK™ technology to the heart of Alberta’s oil sector, particularly to producers and midstream operators seeking cost-effective, on-site bitumen transformation. Compact, scalable, the launch of the Alfaluz plant near Fort Assiniboine is designed to revolutionize the way bitumen and heavy oils are prepared for pipeline transport—with minimum to non diluents to achieve customers Sulphur content , density, viscosity, MCR and TAN requirements.

Advanced On-Site Processing with Petromax and UCR Technology

By integrating Alfaluz’s biodegradable Petromax chemical injection unit, modular UCR  salt separator and de-gasser , the automatized technology enables immediate emulsion breaking and dewatering, reducing transport costs and improving realized pricing.

Scalable Heavy Oil Upgrading for Remote and Midstream Sites

The facility begins operations at 1,000 barrels per day, with scalability to 3,000 BPD within a year, and an expected ramp to 5,000 BPD by year two. Designed with a small footprint, the system f can support remote deployment or integration into existing midstream sites.

By cutting out diluents, M-CRACK™ boosts pipeline economics, simplifies blending, and reduces environmental liabilities. The technology has already drawn interest from operators looking to streamline logistics and enhance asset flexibility in Canada’s bitumen corridor.

“With M-CRACK, we’re offering producers a way to reduce diluent costs, raise margins, and slash emissions—all in one integrated system.”

Alfaluz’s Canadian launch positions the company to work directly with local operators, joint venture partners, and regional producers aiming to meet both economic and regulatory pressure with agile infrastructure.
